If your exchange doesn't appear in the 1099-DA portal, your 1099-DA PDF won't upload, or your import is stuck on In Progress, this article will help you troubleshoot those errors. Work through the section that matches what you're seeing. If nothing resolves the issue, the last section covers your options.
Why doesn't my exchange appear in the 1099-DA portal?
If an exchange you expect to see is missing, the cause is usually one of these four:
- No taxable activity in 2025. The portal only shows exchanges where you had a sale, swap, or other disposal during 2025. Transfers and deposits are not included in 1099-DA reporting.
- Imported via CoinTracker's generic CSV integration of an exchange-specific integration. The portal needs to recognize the exchange to surface it. CSV uploads using the generic CoinTracker CSV integration won't qualify. Reconnect the exchange via API or use the designated exchange integration to import your CSV.
- Exchange not on the qualified or supported list. Not every exchange is required to issue a 1099-DA. International exchanges, small platforms, and defunct exchanges are common exclusions.
- Sync or connection issue. If the exchange shows as disconnected or out of sync, the portal can't verify your 2025 activity. Re-authenticate the exchange and refresh the connection.
Why does my 1099-DA upload fail or error out?
Upload errors usually trace back to the browser, the file itself, or the file size. Try these checks in order:
- Switch browsers or try incognito. A browser extension or cached session can block the upload. Open a private window or try a different browser.
- Confirm the file is a valid 1099-DA PDF. The portal only accepts 1099-DA forms. 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC, 1099-K, and 1099-B will fail. Open the PDF and check the form title at the top.
- Check the file size. The portal accepts PDFs up to 20MB. Files over that size won't upload.
Why is my import stuck on "In Progress"?
If the import status hasn't moved past In Progress, work through these checks:
- Re-upload the 1099-DA. In the 1099-DA portal, select Review next to the exchange and upload the PDF again.
- Check your tax dates. Open your account settings and confirm your tax dates reflect the correct tax year. A mismatched tax year can leave the import stuck.
- Check for any known incident. Visit the CoinTracker status page to see if a sync or import issue is in progress.
What should I do if none of these steps work?
If none of the troubleshooting above resolves the issue, you have two options:
Enter your 1099-DA values manually
In the 1099-DA portal, select the Input each line manually option for the exchange shown and type in the values from your exchange's 1099-DA summary page.
