You'll receive a missing price history alert when the value of an asset is unknown and needs your confirmation, usually due to CoinTracker being unable to pull a complete price history for a received crypto asset (such as DeFi or NFT tokens).
- In these cases, CoinTracker conservatively assumes the cost basis of your assets based on nearby transaction values, either the previous price or later transaction value.
- The missing price history message can affect either the cost basis or proceeds, depending on the transaction type.
For example, when missing price history affects proceeds, CoinTracker assumes a $0.00 value because it can't determine the price of the crypto on the disposal date.
Resolve missing balance errors
To reconcile these flagged transactions, use a desktop browser, as mobile browsers or the mobile app may lack full functionality.
-
Re-import the wallet where the error occurs to sync any missing price history.
- Syncing is recommended before making manual edits.
- If the error persists and you agree that the proceeds or cost basis is $0, click Confirm $0.00 proceeds or Confirm $0.00 cost basis by clicking the [...] icon next to the flagged transaction.
- To add missing data, click Edit cost basis or Edit proceeds from the flagged transaction and enter the token price for the transaction date. CoinTracker will calculate the proceeds or cost basis based on the price and quantity.
For NFTs with missing price history, see this help article.
