Freezing transactions keeps your transaction history stable through the given tax year. You won't be able to make any changes to your tax settings while transactions are frozen — you will need to unfreeze them first.
Important: Unfreezing can change your calculations, gains, and tax documents as CoinTracker pulls in new historical market data and third-party data.
Note: For US users, if you migrated from Universal to Per-Wallet cost basis tracking, transactions in your locked migration period are not unfrozen here. To edit them, switch back to Universal cost basis, make your change, then migrate to Per-Wallet again. For details, see How to switch back to Universal cost basis tracking.
Steps to unfreeze transactions
- Go to the Taxes page.
- Select the tax year (e.g. 2025 taxes) you want to unfreeze.
- Click unfreeze in the frozen banner.
- Review the details, type CONFIRM, and click Unfreeze to complete.
Unfreezing can take some time, depending on your transaction volume. Check the status panel for progress updates.
