If your tax filing software isn't listed as a supported option in CoinTracker, you can still file your crypto taxes by manually entering your tax data. Most tax software accepts the same underlying forms and summary numbers that CoinTracker generates.
Download your tax forms from CoinTracker
- Navigate to your Tax Report Center and select the Tax filing software tab.
- Expand the Other tax filing software card.
- Select Generate to download your Form 8949 Attachment Pages. You'll upload or attach this file in your tax software.
Enter capital gains and losses in your tax software
Navigate to the section in your tax software for reporting investment income, capital gains, or digital asset sales. Some software labels this as "1099-DA" or "1099-B" income.
Your Form 8949 attachment contains up to four summary statements on the first page. For each statement that appears in your Form 8949 attachment, enter the total proceeds and total cost basis shown at the bottom of the page.
| Statement | Description |
|---|---|
| H | Short-term, basis not reported to IRS (noncovered) |
| K | Long-term, basis not reported to IRS (noncovered) |
| I | Short-term, didn't receive 1099-DA or substitute |
| L | Long-term, didn't receive 1099-DA or substitute |
Note: Not all customers will have all four statements. Only enter the ones that appear in your Form 8949 attachment. Most tax software will ask you to select a "sales section" or "box" — match the letter (H, K, I, or L) to the corresponding option in your software.
Attach your Form 8949 Attachment Pages
Most tax software will prompt you to upload a supporting document. Upload your Form 8949 Attachment Pages file.
Note: If your software does not support file uploads, you may need to print and mail the Form 8949 Attachment Pages to the IRS with your return.
Report crypto income
If you have taxable crypto income — such as from staking, airdrops, or mining — you'll also need to report this in your tax software. Look for a section to report other income or miscellaneous income, and enter the amounts shown on your CoinTracker tax reports.
