How to import tax forms on H&R Block Desktop

If you’re getting stuck or receiving an error while importing your digital asset proceeds on H&R Block, follow the steps below. 

1. Import Digital Asset Proceeds

1. Navigate to Federal.
2. Select Income, scroll down to Investments, and find “Digital Asset Proceeds From Broker Transactions (1099-DA).
3. Select Go To.

2. Select Import Crypto Investments in the middle of the screen.

3. Choose whose account you want to import and select Import.

4. Select Sign in to CoinTracker. This will open a browser window.

5. Select Log in next to “Already have an account?” Then enter your CoinTracker credentials.

6. You will be taken to CoinTracker's guided tax flow and towards the end, your 8949 attachment will be available to download. Once it’s ready, select Download.

7. Once it’s downloaded, select Send to H&R Block.

8. Select, Continue to H&R Block.

9. Once your account is linked, select Import.

10. After importing data from CoinTracker, you’ll see a “Success” screen. Review the import and select Close.

11. You’ll see your imported digital asset sales. Select Finished. 

12. Navigate to the File tab and under Electronic Filing, select Display list.

13. Select Continue.

14. Select Next.

15. Continue to the screen where you see the Send button. Select the Send button.

16. After you select Send, you’ll be prompted to upload your 8948 Attachment file. Select Attach in the upper right of the screen.

17. Once the PDF is attached, Select Finished.
