You can enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on your account through the Settings page. This added layer of security is compatible with token-based authenticator apps such as Google Authenticator or 1Password. We recommend downloading the authenticator app of your choice before continuing with the 2FA set up instructions below.
How to Set Up 2FA for Your Account
- Navigate to the Settings page.
- Scroll down to 'Two-factor authentication setting' and toggle to On.
- You will see a pop-up that says 'Secure your account' with a QR code.
- Open your token-based authenticator app and set up a new entry by scanning the QR code.
- Complete the setup by following the instructions provided within the app.
- Once the setup is complete in the authenticator, get the 6-digit code from your authenticator app and input it under the QR code where it says 'Enter your one-time code'.
- Next you'll see a recovery code. Click 'Copy code' to copy the code to your clipboard.
- Paste your recovery code somewhere secure.
- Click the checkbox to indicate you have secured your recovery code.
- Next time you login to CoinTracker, you will be asked to verify your identify by inputting the 6-digit code from your authenticator app:
What is the recovery code for?
Your recovery code will allow you to access your account in the event that you lose access to your device with the authenticator app. We highly recommend saving your recovery code in a secure and accessible location.
