CoinTracker offers two-factor authentication (2FA) for added security. This extra step requires a second verification, in addition to your sign-in credentials.
We support time-based one-time password (TOTP) apps like Google Authenticator or 1Password. Any TOTP-compatible app works. These apps generate temporary, time-sensitive codes that grant access to your account.
Two-factor authentication setup
Enable 2FA in CoinTracker
- Download your preferred authenticator app from the app store on your mobile phone.
- Sign in to CoinTracker.
- Select Account at the bottom left of the page, then select Settings.
- From the Account tab, toggle the two-factor authentication setting on.
- Select Enable to continue the setup.
Link your authenticator app
- In your authenticator app, scan the QR code shown in CoinTracker.
- Enter the one-time code from your app and select Continue.
- Select Copy code to copy your recovery code. Store it somewhere safe.
- Check the confirmation box and select Continue to finish.
Next time you sign into CoinTracker, you will be asked to verify your identity by entering the code from your authenticator app.
Your recovery code
Important: Your recovery code is the only way back into your account if you lose your authenticator device. Store it somewhere secure and accessible — a password manager is ideal. CoinTracker can't recover it for you.
Biometric authentication setup
You can set up biometrics during the sign-in flow. After entering your credentials and submitting your one-time password, you'll have the option to set up biometric authentication before accessing your account.
Note: You can't set up biometrics from your account settings. Our support team can't enable biometric authentication for you, but we can reset it if you need to unenroll a device or regain access.
If you run into any issues, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team for help.
