Exchanges may occasionally revoke CoinTracker’s API access, but you can often fix this with these steps:
- Create a new API key: Create a new key on the exchange, as old keys may not be reusable.
- Enable read-access permissions: Make sure all required read-access permissions are turned on. Check the specific instructions for your exchange on the Add wallet page.
- Enter API credentials accurately: Double-check the credentials, including any passphrase generated with the API key. Some exchanges require a unique passphrase for each API key.
- Activate the API key: Verify the API key is activated through two-factor authentication or email confirmation.
- Check IP restrictions: Ensure no IP restrictions are enabled on the key.
- Confirm account activity: Make sure the exchange account is active and not empty, as some exchanges (like Kraken) won’t sync empty accounts via API.
More tips if you still can’t add the exchange
-
Re-add the exchange:
- If the exchange isn’t added, try adding it again.
- If it’s already added but not syncing, go to the Wallets page, select the exchange, and choose Update API Key.
-
Use CSV upload:
- If updating the API key doesn’t work, upload your transactions via CSV as a reliable fallback to maintain your transaction history.
