What is CoinTracker?
CoinTracker is an easy and accurate way to calculate crypto taxes. From capital gains and NFTs to DeFi and multichain cost basis—CoinTracker provides the most comprehensive crypto tax reporting available.
CoinTracker and Kraken
Behind the scenes, the Kraken Tax Center uses CoinTracker’s reconciliation tools to help match transfers, trace missing information, and guide you through what needs attention. This is especially useful if you’ve moved crypto between platforms, since missing cost basis can lead to incomplete or inaccurate tax reporting.
If you’ve made moves outside of Kraken—such as in self-custody wallets or on other exchanges—you can connect those accounts through CoinTracker to get a more complete view of your transactions. Having your full activity in one place helps you avoid common mistakes, including reporting gains incorrectly or potentially overpaying on your taxes.
Why CoinTracker?
CoinTracker supports hundreds of wallets, exchanges, and decentralized apps, which makes it easier to bring everything together in one consolidated portfolio and tax report.
A few of CoinTracker’s features:
- 50k+ smart contracts and 600+ dapps
- Real-time portfolio monitoring
- NFTs
- DeFi
- Multichain cost basis
- Capital gains
- Tax calculator
- 1099 DA reporting
- Integration with TurboTax and H&R Block

Can I connect my CoinTracker account to Kraken if I have used CoinTracker in the past?
Yes! If you’ve used CoinTracker in the past or already have a CoinTracker account, you can seamlessly connect CoinTracker through Kraken for accurate cost basis information.
I linked my CoinTracker account but my Kraken history isn’t loading?
This is probably due to a linking issue. Please sign in to CoinTracker and reconnect Kraken.
Please note: The email you use for CoinTracker must be the same as the email you use for Kraken.
Why do I need to link my CoinTracker account if I’m using Kraken to generate my tax forms?
By linking CoinTracker, cost basis information automatically updates directly on your Kraken account. And CoinTracker will flag any transaction or account issues that may need your attention.
When can I expect my 1099-DA?
U.S. exchanges and brokerages are required to send 1099-DAs to customers who had taxable crypto transactions in 2025. If you haven't received a 1099-DA, please reach out to Kraken.
