Adding a wallet address to CoinTracker automatically syncs your balances and transactions for effortless portfolio tracking.
A wallet address, also known as a public address, is a string of letters and numbers that allows assets to be sent to and from your wallet. It also identifies your transactions on a blockchain explorer.
Since this address is public, you can share it safely — no one can use it to access your funds. To control or move your funds, someone would need access to your wallet’s private key, which CoinTracker never requests.
Supported address types
CoinTracker supports several types of wallet addresses depending on the blockchain:
- Wallet address (or public address): This is the standard address used to receive assets and track balances on most blockchains.
- xPub/yPub/zPub keys: UTXO-based wallets (like Bitcoin wallets) typically use extended public keys. These wallets transfer any unused balance to a new address after each transaction.
Tips for using your wallet address
- Double-check the address: Make sure it’s correct and matches the right network.
- Use xPub/yPub/zPub keys for UTXO-based networks like Bitcoin or Doge wallets.
- Some exchanges give you wallet addresses to receive crypto, but these usually aren't added to CoinTracker because exchanges often generate unique one-time addresses for each customer's account.
Important: Never share your private keys. CoinTracker only needs your wallet address or public keys — nothing else.
How to add a wallet address to CoinTracker
Each address is tied to a specific blockchain or network, so it’s important to use the correct address or public key for the network you’re adding.
- From the Wallets page, click Add wallet.
- Select the correct network.
- Copy your wallet address or extended public key (xPub/yPub/zPub) from your wallet provider.
- Paste it into CoinTracker and confirm the details.
- Select the Add option and allow CoinTracker to sync your wallet data.
Note: If you see the message "This wallet is already connected to your account" but don't see the wallet on your Wallets page, scroll to the bottom of your wallet list and toggle on Show empty wallets. Wallets with no transactions or balance are hidden by default.
