Occasionally, API-based integrations will lose their connection to the API and require you to re-authenticate. A notification will appear on the Account Health page prompting you to update your account.
Understand different types of API integrations
There are two types of API integrations that may require re-authentication:
- API keys: You’ll need to provide API keys to connect your exchange to CoinTracker, like Kucoin or Gemini.
- OAuth: You’ll need to sign in to an exchange to set up the connection, like Coinbase, Uphold, or CoinJar.
Learn more about how syncing works with API keys.
Steps to re-authenticate with API keys
- From the Wallets page, select the exchange you want to re-authenticate.
- Select the [...] icon.
- Select Update account.
- Update your connection with your API Key, API Secret, and Passphrase.
- Select Add [Exchange Name].
Steps to re-authenticate via sign-in
For OAuth integrations that require signing in to connect an exchange to CoinTracker, we’ll use Coinbase as an example to show this process:
- Select the [...] icon.
- Select Update Coinbase account.
- Select Continue with Coinbase. You’ll be redirected to the Coinbase sign-in page. (Ensure that the URL confirms that it’s Coinbase.)
- Enter your sign-in credentials and any required two-factor authentication.
- Select Allow access to grant CoinTracker read-only access to your Coinbase transaction data.
Once complete, CoinTracker adds your Coinbase account to your wallet list.
