ALERT: Our Engineering team is currently investigating an increase in error messages and "Needs Review" transactions.
This may be due to a bug, but some of these errors in your account may be real and will likely need to be resolved once the investigation concludes.
We recommend taking the following actions:
1. Attempt to resolve the errors* using the instructions below.
2. If the error is not resolved, please visit our public Transaction Error forum and upvote your issue. This will subscribe you to updates so you will be alerted as soon as there is a fix or more information
*NOTE: For best results, please use a desktop browser to reconcile errors instead of mobile web or the app.

CoinTracker automatically synchronizes transaction and price history for DeFi wallets and platforms. There are occasions in which the price history of a coin may be missing. This most commonly occurs when we do not have the complete price history of a particular coin or if we do not have your complete transaction history. We also may be unable to determine cost basis or proceeds because we do not yet support the token. We are rapidly working on expanding our list of supported tokens and price histories, as we support more tokens these errors will become less common.
You may see these errors on some of your transactions:
.
Example of error flags: Cannot determine cost basis
, Cannot determine capital gains
How do we address these errors?
- Confirm you have added your complete, all-time cryptocurrency transaction history to CoinTracker. This ensures we have all of the data needed to correctly calculate cost basis and proceeds for each transaction. Entering all exchanges, self-custody wallets (e.g. cold/hardware/local wallets), coins/tokens, ICOs, trades, DeFi transactions, transfers, withdrawals, and deposits allow us to reference all assets in our calculations. Leaving any transactions out, whether from previous years or because you believe they may not be relevant WILL skew your portfolio and will cause your tax calculations to be incorrect.
- Edit the cost basis and/or proceeds to manually resolve these errors. See our guide on how to edit the cost basis and proceeds of your transaction for more information on how to access our edit actions. You can manually enter in the correct price of that coin on the date of that transaction, by looking up the price from Nomics, CoinMarketCap or on Etherscan.
Upon updating the cost basis and/or proceeds, CoinTracker will re-compute your cost basis (you'll see a yellow banner at the top of the page).
Once the yellow banner is gone, you'll know the re-computation is complete, refresh your page. You should see the red error removed from your flagged transactions.
