CoinTracker offers several tools to help maintain an accurate transaction history, including the ability to unlink and re-link Transfer transactions. Incorrectly linked Transfers can lead to errors such as insufficient quantity flags or inaccurate cost basis calculations. To ensure accuracy, you can unlink automatically-detected Transfer transactions or re-link them as needed.
Understand how unlinking Transfers affects transactions
When a Send and Receive transaction are linked, they’re categorized as a Transfer. CoinTracker automatically detects Transfers to ensure accurate tracking, though it may not always get it right, and you may need to make changes. If a Transfer is unlinked, it will revert to separate Send and Receive transactions.
Unlink a transfer
- Go to the Transactions page.
- Click the [...] icon next to the transaction you’d like to unlink.
- Select Unlink transaction from the dropdown menu.
Re-link transactions
To relink transactions, select two transactions then click Link Transactions to allow them to be relinked.
Our system will detect these transactions as Transfers again if they match the right criteria. Re-enabling linking will make sure they’re correctly categorized for accurate cost calculations.
