Why did my the numbers on my Dashboard or Performance page suddenly change?
If you see a sudden change in your Dashboard or Performance page, please take the following actions:
- Check for recent activity: Did you add a wallet or have trading activity on your linked wallets?
- Ensure all wallets are synced: Make sure all wallets are recently synced.
Changes in portfolio numbers may be due to bug fixes or integration improvements. Or there may be an bug causing discrepancies. If the above steps do not help, the Support team can review your account.
Why did numbers in my tax reports from previous years change?
CoinTracker currently does not have a way to "freeze" past tax year calculations. This means the calculations in the Tax Center reflect the current transaction history in CoinTracker.
Several factors could change past tax calculations, including:
- Adding or removing wallets or exchanges: Changes to your connected wallets or exchanges can impact past calculations.
- Editing past transactions: Adding, removing, or editing transactions from previous years can alter tax reports.
- Changing cost basis method: Modifying the cost basis method in the settings page can affect past reports. CoinTracker now allows setting the cost basis method by year for Ultra users.
- Adjusting cost basis tracking: Changes to cost basis tracking settings can impact calculations.
- Product improvements: Updates like accounting engine enhancements and improved DeFi activity categorization may also cause changes to previous years tax reports.
