Tax Pros: How to View and Download Client Tax Reports

This article provides detailed instructions for those with Tax Pro accounts for how to locate, generate, and download their client's tax reports from the Tax Pro dashboard.

How to View Client Tax Reports

1. Navigate to the Tax Pro dashboard.
2. Click Visit tax center on the client account that you'd like reports for. If your client does not have a CoinTracker paid plan you will not be able to download reports or view tax calculations in the Tax Center. You can follow our purchasing guide to upgrade their tax plan. 
3. In the client's Tax Center, scroll to the 'Tax reports' section.

How to generate a tax report

IRS forms are generated and emailed to the email address associated with your account. 

1. Click Generate on the form that you'd like to be sent
   
2. If you try to generate an IRS form with transactions that need review, you'll be prompted to review the transactions before generating a report.
   
   1. Clicking Review transactions will take you to a filtered view of the Transactions page where you can see the transactions that are flagged for review.
   2. Clicking Generate anyway will send a report with the current calculations.
3. After a tax form is generated you will see a confirmation and you should receive an email shortly. The file will also be downloaded locally to your computer.
   
   1. The time it takes for a report to be generated is dependant on the number of transactions on the form. For example, a condensed 8949 form will generate faster than a standard 8949 form.
4. Head to your email inbox. The email will have your client’s tax form information in the subject line e.g. ‘2022 Tax form 8949’ 
5. Inside the email you will find a link to a PDF version of the form available for you to download.

How to download a tax report

CSV reports, such as the transaction history CSV and capital gains CSV, are downloaded directly to your browser.

1. From the Tax Center > 'Tax reports' section, you can find CSVs under CSV reports
2. Click Download on the file you'd like to download
   
3. The file will prepare to download and you'll see a spinning wheel to indicate progress
4. The file will appear in your browser's download bar (and default downloading folder), ready for your access.
