To accurately calculate your crypto taxes, CoinTracker requires a complete history of your crypto transactions. Periodically downloading and backing up your crypto transaction history from CoinTracker is an easy way to make sure you have access to this data you need to accurately calculate your taxes.
Why is it beneficial to back up your crypto transaction history?
There are several key reasons why backing up your crypto transaction history is beneficial:
- Switching between crypto tax software: Having a backup allows you to easily migrate your transaction history if you decide to switch to a different tax calculation tool.
- Losing access to your CoinTracker account: In case you can't access your CoinTracker account, a backup ensures you still have your transaction data.
- Losing access to an exchange account: If you're locked out of an exchange account or if an exchange ceases operations, you'll still have a record of your transactions.
How to Download Your Transaction History from CoinTracker
- Navigate to the Transactions page.
- Set the filters for the transactions you wish to download. You have the option to leave these filters unset to download all transactions.
- Per wallet: You can filter by each wallet in case you want to re-import them to CoinTracker at a later time and want to keep wallets separate.
- Large number of transactions: If you have a large amount of transactions, we recommend downloading your history in chunks of no more than 10,000 transactions at a time to avoid download failure. You can set the results per page to 100, check the date on the first and tenth page, then use the date filter to download that range.
- Select the CSV download button. This will allow you to download your filtered or complete transaction history.
- For instance, if you've set filters to view all transactions from Coinbase Pro, clicking the CSV download button will only download those specific transactions.
